What?!

 Sanada-sama as Anpanman

Apparently my niece was painting rocks at school for an art project and thought that Sanada-Sama could use some decorations, too. 

...

I just hope it will come clean with enough scrubbing. 

Clearly another reason to move out. I need to protect the family rock from artistic children who do not yet know the importance of Sanada-sama's legacy.

Maybe this is one of those changes that comes with time. But regardless, it seems that a simple soap solution should be enough for your troubles.
