My brother and his wife just announced they are expecting their fourth child... I love my family but perhaps it's time to move out so I can better focus on school.

It seems a bit frivolous since there is still plenty of space at home and it's both where I train and work. But moving out would give me more quiet time to study and meditate.

I thought about the dorms but they're a bit far from here. Perhaps a roommate...

As your nieces and nephews grow up they will require more room to work and play. But yes, think of the 2am crying.

Something walkable to a direct line to Rikkai and preferably not too far out from Yukimura and others in Tokyo.

I want a tatami room. And I'd like an open outdoor space. Either a garden or something like that balcony that Yukimura had at his hotel in Paris. I need enough room for meditating and training.

That's why I was thinking a roommate might be good. I could justify getting a bigger place.

That kind of place would be further out from the city, but I’m sure I could turn up something.

An apartment seems more realistic. And a house in the city doesn't ensure any more garden space than an apartment.

Distance doesn't matter so much as long as the train lines are good. I trust you to know my priorities when it comes to where I need to be.

I have found an apartment that may be suitable. It has three bedrooms, a tatami room, and a sunny balcony. We can go seeit, if you’d like.

A little. I enjoy our Sunday mornings together. But they're also a lot of work since I live with them.

Of course. Why would I move out when home is free and convenient. And I do have my own room.

Renji is helping me look for places. But if I don't find anything that suits my needs, I will probably just stay home but spend more time at the library.

I want a tatami room for meditating and calligraphy. And either a nice outdoor space or high enough ceilings for kendo training. Close to the main train lines I need, too.

I know it's a demanding list but there's no reason to not be picky.

I tried to not have too long of a list.


I haven't really considered a budget yet. But I do wonder if a roommate would help with both size demands and a reasonable budget.

That is sensible. Are they all not-negotiable or would you be willing to compromise on some points?

As long as they are of a similar temperament and lifestyle a roommate might not be a bad idea. Maybe another martial artist would be suited best?

I'm not completely unreasonable.

True. I either need to find somewhere that is a bargain or get a roommate. I wouldn't feel right spending money otherwise when I could still stay at home.
